Go to the olive-picking, sit on the bus with the others, get off the bus, it’s only three of us here, walk off the road down to the olive field, it’s not far, it’s just a bit steep. See some young guys walking down the hill from the other side, see them waving at us, see them smiling.

Say hello to each other, start picking olives, not the first time, getting quite good at it, do some picking for a while, move to another spot, keep picking. See the father having a rest, He says, “I’m so tired. I work at night as an electrician.” He says, “How old are you?” He says, “Are you married?” He says, “Why not?”

Keep picking olives, time to move to another spot again, he says, “Stay here, my son is coming. Sit next to me. We’ll have a chat.”
